Kim Taylor

Board of Trustees
Title: Trustee
Trustee Kim Taylor

In 1989, newlywed Kim Taylor and her husband moved to Redford Township to start their lives together.  Several years after moving into the township, in 1992, they opened a family business and became active in the community, including joining the Redford Chamber of Commerce in 1994, volunteering at local events, and joining the Jaycees to support the Redford Township community.

Community, nature, and volunteerism are recurring themes Kim is passionate about.

Soon after joining the Jaycees, Kim helped build and oversaw the management of the Redford Jaycees Community Gardens in Ashcroft Park where she volunteered for over 10 years. Throughout her years as the garden coordinator, the garden produced thousands of pounds of fresh, organic vegetables for families in need through Redford Interfaith Relief.

Currently, Kim volunteers to help rehabilitate Opossums that are orphaned.   She also participates as a volunteer with the Special Olympics Young Athlete’s program, in addition to assisting with the annual Redford Summer Festival and Oktoberfest, where you will find her selling tickets and greeting visitors.

In 2016, Kim ran for the office of Trustee viewing this as an extension of volunteerism.  Being in office allows her to help support the community she and her family call home. Kim ran for office of Trustee again in 2020 to continue to help with the ongoing work and change she believes is still needed to move Redford in a positive, forward direction.

Kim and her husband consider themselves to be lifelong Redford Township residents as they plan to live out their days here in the township.  She desires to see Redford become a thriving, growing community.  Her hope for Redford Township is for it to be seen as more than just a bedroom community.  In order to create that change, she believes it will take individuals to think outside of the box.

When it comes to Redford, she considers herself "all in".  Kim shared that she will always do her best to help the community where she and her husband Brian began their lives together. Additionally, she appreciates the residents allowing her the opportunity to serve them by electing her to be their Township Trustee.
