Welcome to the Redford Township Youth Department Home Page!! Below is some basic information about current on-going programs that are offered through the department. Throughout the year, there will be special programs and services offered within the department that may not be listed at this time. Our Programs

After School Program:
(Open September-June each school year)

The Redford Youth Department offers a free drop in after school program for Redford Residents ages 7-15 years old Monday through Friday from 3:30-7:30pm within the Redford Community Center. All youth must have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian before being able to participate. Youth ages 5 & 6 may participate in daily activities if a parent or guardian is in the Community Center. Any youth under 5 must have a parent with them while participating at all times.

Teen Lounge:
The Redford Youth Department offers a teen drop in lounge for Redford Residents ages 13-18 Monday through Friday from 3-7:30pm within the Redford Community Center. Watch TV, movies, listen to your favorite music, play foosball, or just hang out. All participants must have a waiver on file signed by a parent or guardian.

Youth Assistance Program:
Redford Township works with Growthworks Inc. to provide many at-risk programs within our Community. Programs include both Youth Assistance and Chemical Dependency Programs. For assistance, please call 734-495-1722.

Youth Clubs

The Redford Youth Department offers volunteer led youth clubs throughout the school year for Redford Residents 7-15 years of age at the Redford Community Center. Please note, youth must sign up to be a part of the after school program in order to participate. Some examples of clubs are: Magic Club, Craft Club, and Soccer Club.

Summer Youth Program Hours

Redford Youth Commission:
Are you a high school student that would like to get more involved in your community? If you are come and join the Redford Township Youth Commission. Commissioners sit on current boards and commissions within the Township to learn more about their local government, volunteer at various Township events, and create Teen events for youth within your community. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 5pm in the Redford Community Center Library.

Possible Programs/ Classes Wanted:
The Redford Youth Department is always looking to expand and add to our current programs. Do you have a possible program or talent that you would like to offer to the youth in our community? If so, please stop by the Youth Department and fill out a program proposal form.

Capitol Park Skate Park:
Redford Township offers a free skatepark located in Capitol Park. The skatepark is open to skateboarding, in-line skates, and non-motorized bikes. *Park may be closed at any time due to the weather or the discretion of Redford Township. No trespassing between dusk to dawn, trespassers may be ticketed or arrested.

School year: Sept- June - 3:30pm-Dusk
Summer: June-Sept. - 9am-Dusk

Saturday: Dawn-1pm: Bikes
1pm-Dusk: Skateboards
Sunday: Dawn-1pm: Skateboards
1pm-Dusk: Bikes

Skateboarding, in-line skating, and non-motorized bikes only
Helmet, knee pads, elbow pads & wrist guards recommended
No smoking, tobacco or alcohol allowed
No graffiti, stickers or littering
No skating on adjacent property
No glass containers


Action Center
The NEW "Action Center" allows citizens to maintain an open dialogue with their Township Government. Citizens can fill out and submit forms online to report incidents, provide feedback, request tours and more.

Wayne Metro Community Action Agency has developed a reputation among care agencies as experts in assessing potential bed bug problems in homes, apartments and schools in our area. If you have reason to believe that a resident needs this service, please feel free to share this referral with them. The phone number to Wayne Metro is 734-246-2280.

Did you know that the Redford Firefighters Fund loans wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches to Redford residents free of charge? Contact the South Fire Station for availability @ 937-2029. (Must show proof of residency at time of pick-up.)
