HOW TO OBTAIN A COPY OF A REPORT
CRASH REPORTS
You can obtain a copy of a report Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, excluding holidays, between the hours of 8:00am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 4:00pm. (starting September 1st)
Traffic accident reports can be obtained at www.michigan.gov/msp for the fee of $10.00
Accident reports, and property reports will only be accepted at the front desk from 7 am to 7 pm. These reports can be made all 7 days a week.
We no longer accept private property accident reports unless there is an injury or extenuating circumstances. This information can be given directly to your insurance company.
You will need to know one of the following;
The case number of the accident
Or
The date and location of the accident
In order to obtain a copy of a crash report, you must be involved in the crash or associated with a person involved in the crash.
INCIDENT REPORTS
To obtain a copy of an incident report, we strongly recommend you call the Records Division at 313-387-2531 and check the availability of the report you are interested in. You will need to know the case number of the incident or the date and location of the incident. You can obtain a copy of a report Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, excluding holidays, between the hours of 8:00am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 4:00pm. (starting September 1st)
