Personnel

THE REDFORD TOWNSHIP EMPLOYEES' CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION: RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Personnel Department is the hiring conduit for the Township. Generally, we provide applications for employment only when there are vacancies to be filled. However, if you would like to be on a mailing list for future vacancies download and complete the Job Interest Form
(you will need Adobe Reader to view this form - click here to download a copy of acrobat)

Whenever there is an opening to be filled by the general public we go through the job interest form file. If your interests matches the vacancy you will be notified by mail and invited to come in and complete an application.

When filling out the job interest form indicate all of the areas that you are interested in. Remember, we will only notify you if your interests match the vacancy. Also if you have a special skill, certification or license let us know, we want to hire the best.

After we receive your job interest form we will keep it on file for 4 months. If you want to renew your job interest form after 4 months, give us a call or drop in the office if you are in the township hall. Your interest form will be renewed for an additional 4 months; and we will keep renewing your form as long as you continue to show an interest.

Additional Facts:
Residency is not a requirement for employment with the Township. Individuals selected for employment are required to pass a post job offer drug screen. And of course the Charter Township of Redford is an equal opportunity employer.

More Facts:
Redford has two civil service commissions and they are: Redford Township Employees' Civil Service, and the Redford Township Police and Fire Civil Service Commission. The Employees' Civil Service is comprised of the Township's regular civilian personnel. "Sworn" police officers and firefighters make up the Police and Fire Civil Service personnel.

Final Fact:
The Personnel Department is the employment office only for the Township government. The Redford Township District Library, The 17th District Court, The Redford Union School District and The South Redford School District are separate entities from the Township government and have their own personnel or human resources departments. Individuals seeking employment from one of the school districts or the library need to contact them directly.
