ADOPTED AMENDED ORDINANCES CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF REDFORD
ORDINANCE NO. 296 ADOPTED
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 90-1 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF REDFORD TO PROHIBIT THE GROWTH OF GRASS OR WEEDS IN EXCESS OF SIX INCHES; TO PROVIDE FOR PENALTIES; AND TO REPEAL ANY ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT.
THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF REDFORD HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I: Section 90-1 of the Code of Ordinances is amended to read:
Unlawful to permit dense growth
(a) It shall be unlawful for the owner or occupant or any person or persons, firm or corporation in charge of any lot or parcel of land within the township to permit or allow to grow thereon any shrubbery or trees which, because of height or density, shall constitute a public hazard to pedestrians, drivers of motor vehicles or other persons while engaged in the lawful use of the sidewalks, roads, or streets in the township. In all such locations, shrubbery tree limbs shall not hang lower than six feet above ground level.
(b) It shall be unlawful for the owner or occupant or any person or persons, firm or corporation in charge of any lot or parcel of land within the township to permit or allow to grow thereon grass or weeds which exceeds six inches in height.
SECTION II. Repeal. All Ordinances, resolutions or orders, or parts thereof, in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are, to the extent of such conflict, repealed.
SECTION III. Savings Clause. If any section, paragraph, clause, or provision of this Ordinance is, for any reason, held to be invalid or unconstitutional, the invalidity or unconstitutionality of such section, paragraph, clause, or provision shall not affect any of the remaining provisions of this Ordinance.
SECTION IV. Authority. This Ordinance is necessary to promote the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the Charter Township of Redford and is authorized by Public Act 246 of 1945 (MCL 41.191, et. Seq.).
SECTION V. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be immediately recorded by the Township Clerk, and shall be published once in a newspaper of general circulation in said Township within ten (10) days after its passage, and shall take effect immediately upon publication.
