To the citizen's
of Redford Township: As you may or may not know on Friday, April 26th
I announced my candidacy for the United States Congress in a new District
Number 11.
This was a very
difficult decision. I love the people of Redford Township and its work
force. I recently remarried after fifteen years of bachelorhood and
that also weighed on my decision.
A federal court
action delayed the filing deadline for the U.S. House to June 11th moving
it past my wedding date and making the race more possible. The court
is expected to rule on the new congressional redistricting plan by the
end of May and this could affect my intention to run if changes are
made.
Running for Congress
is an honor, but my first responsibility is as your Supervisor. I will
continue to make that my number one priority, whether I stay in the
race or opt out before June 1st.
Memorial Day: This
weekend we remember our veterans. Those who served and those who lost
their lives serving. They fought for liberty and freedom against political
powers and made the United States the great country it is today. In
2002, we face different threats and different challenges but their spirit
will guide us as we face the terrorist's threats in the year 2002.
As always, I appreciate
the opportunity to share my thoughts with you via the Redford Connection.
