You can obtain a copy of an accident report Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, excluding holidays, between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm. (starting September 1st)

Traffic accidents can be obtained at www.michigan.gov/msp for the fee of $10.00

Accident reports, and property reports will only be accepted at the front desk from 7 am to 7 pm. These reports can be made all 7 days a week.

We no longer accept private property accident reports unless there is an injury or extenuating circumstances. This information can be given directly to your insurance company.

You will need to know one of the following;

The case number of the accident
or
The date and location of the accident

In order to obtain a copy of an accident report you must be involved in the accident or associated with a person involved in the accident.

Accident reports cost a minimum of $5.00 per copy and may be available as soon as one business day after the accident at the Traffic Division window on the second floor. To limit your wait we recommend that you call 313-387-2560 and request a copy.

INCIDENT REPORTS

To obtain a copy of a incident report we strongly recommend you call the Records Division at 313-387-2531 and check the availability of the report you are interested in. You will need to know the case number of the incident or the date and location of the incident.
