about current on-going programs that are offered through the department.
Throughout the year, there will be special programs and services offered
within the department that may not be listed at this time. Please feel

After School Program for youth ages 6-18. Click

FREE
TUTORING/HOMEWORK HELP The Redford Youth Department will be offering free homework
help to Redford Residents 1st-8th grades for the 2006-2007 school year.
The 3rd Monday of the month during the school year they will be having a speaker on teen related issues at their meetings.
March was: Alcohol and drug addiction and recovery
April will be: Teenage Depression
After School
Program: (Open September-June each school year)
The Redford Youth Department offers a free drop in after school program
for Redford Residents ages 7-15 years old Monday through Friday from
3:30-7:30pm within the Redford Community Center. All youth must have
a waiver signed by a parent/guardian before being able to participate.
Youth ages 5&6 may participate in daily activities if a parent or
guardian is in the Community Center. Any youth under 5 must have a parent
with them while participating at all times.
Teen Lounge:
The Redford Youth Department offers a teen drop in lounge for Redford
Residents ages 13-18 Monday through Friday from 3-7:30pm within the
Redford Community Center. Watch TV, movies, listen to your favorite
music, play foosball, or just hang out. All participants must have a
waiver on file signed by a parent or guardian.
Youth Assistance Program:
Redford Township works with Growthworks Inc. to provide many at-risk
programs within our Community. Programs include both Youth Assistance
and Chemical Dependency Programs. For assistance, please call 734-495-1722.
The Redford Youth Department offers volunteer led youth clubs throughout
the school year for Redford Residents 7-15 years of age at the Redford
Community Center. Please note, youth must sign up to be a part of the
after school program in order to participate. Some examples of clubs
are: Magic Club, Craft Club, and Soccer Club.
Weight Room:
The Redford Youth Department offers memberships for the Community Center
Weight Room. You must be 17 years or older in order to use the equipment.
Youth 17 years of age need a parent signature in order to participate.
For a waiver and to pay membership fee, please see a youth department
staff member. Equipment includes: free weights, treadmill, bike, elliptical
machine, *new arm and leg station, leg press and squat machine, dumbbells,
and more.
Residents: $25 a year
Non-Residents: $35 a year
Redford Youth Commission:
Are you a high school student that would like to get more involved in
your community? If you are come and join the Redford Township Youth
Commission. Commissioners sit on current boards and commissions within
the Township to learn more about their local government, volunteer at
various Township events, and create Teen events for youth within your
community. Meetings are held on the first and third Monday of the month
at 6pm in the Redford Community Center Library. Click here for their site.
Possible Programs/ Classes Wanted:
The Redford Youth Department is always looking to expand and add to
our current programs. Do you have a possible program or talent that
you would like to offer to the youth in our community? If so, please
stop by the Youth Department and fill out a program proposal form.
Capitol Park Skate Park:
Redford Township offers a free skatepark located in Capitol Park. The
skatepark is open to skateboarding, in-line skates, and non-motorized
bikes. *Park may be closed at any time due to the weather or the discretion
of Redford Township. No trespassing between dusk to dawn, trespassers
may be ticketed or arrested.

Rules:
Skateboarding, in-line skating, and non-motorized bikes only
Helmet, knee pads, elbow pads & wrist guards recommended
No smoking, tobacco or alcohol allowed
No graffiti, stickers or littering
No skating on adjacent property
No glass containers
