5 Clerical Staff, and 3 Uniformed Ordinance Officers.
COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT. Located in the Redford Township Community Center
Community Development Block Grant Funds (CDBG) awarded to Redford Township and used to fund projects such as Housing Rehabilitation, Home Information Center, Dial-A-Ride, Senior Citizen Programming and Youth Services, etc. Also, financial assistance for first time homebuyers with our 2007 Home Purchase and Rehabilitation Program through a grant from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA).
DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC SERVICES
1 Director, 1 Administrative Assistant. This department is responsible
for the coordina- tion and general supervision of the Township Water
& Sewer Department, Sanitation Department, Department of Public
Works, and Department of Building and Safety Engineering, The Department
enforces compliance with statutes, ordinances, codes and resolutions
adopted by the Township Board. In addition, the Department coordinates
special projects as designated by the Township Board and provides auxiliary
services to the Site Committee, Planning Commission, and Zoning Board
of Appeals.
DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC WORKS .
8 employees, 3 tractors, 1 grader, 5 dump trucks (chippers), 1 car,
1 pickup truck and misc. small equipment.
FIRE
DEPARTMENT
39 sworn firefighters and 1 Executive Administrative Assistant. Operations Division: 3 battalions each alternating 24-hour shifts to provide readiness for fire control and extinguishment, hazardous material emergency response, technical rescue, pre-incident surveys, water supply system maintenance, rescue and advanced emergency medical services utilizing 3 fire engine pumpers, a utility vehicle, a Technical Rescue/Support trailer, a command vehicle and 2 advanced life support rescue/ambulances. Prevention Bureau: Site inspections, plan reviews, fire investigation, juvenile fire setter intervention, fire safety education, emergency planning, code and ordinance development and enforcement. Emergency Medical Service Division: Coordinator manages advance emergency medical training and billing.
RECREATION.
Indoor/air conditioned ice arena, 18 hole public golf course, 2 community parks, 8 neighborhood parks, 3 tot lots, 4 lighted and 2 unlighted ball diamonds, 12 little league diamonds, 3 sand volleyball courts, 6 soccer fields, 2 picnic shelters, 8 lighted and 2 unlighted tennis courts, 2 county parks, 3 finess/jogging/rollerblading treails and 5 enclosed roller-hockey/rollerblading areas. New additions are skate park, splash pad and outdoor ice rink. Year-round recreation programs. Facilities, equipment and programs meet ADA accessible guidelines.

South Redford School District: 4 elementary schools, 1 middle school,
1 high school, total enrollment 3,432. Redford Union School District:
4 elementary schools, 1 junior high school, 1
high school, total enrollment 5,302. Parochial Schools: 8 elementary
schools, 3 high schools.
STREETS.
Roads and alleyways under maintenance of Wayne County Depart-ment of
Public Services, Road Division.
WATER
AND SEWER DEPARTMENT.
19 employees, 34 pieces of power equipment, approximately 1 ,020,000
feet of water mains, 850,000 feet of sewers, 1 combined sewer overflow
basin and 9 combined sewer overflows.
SANITATION.
Solid waste, recycling and compost pickup services are contracted to
BFI/Great Lakes. The Township still pro- vides pickup of large bulky
items, all munic- ipal buildings, and special cleanup pro- jects. The
Department also schedules a 1- day Household Hazardous Waste Program.

DISTRICT COURT.
2 District court Judges, 2 part-time Magistrates, 3 probation officers, 8 criminal clerks, 2 civil clerks, 2 judicial secretaries, 2 court officers, 2 part-time court clerks, 1 deputy court administrator and a court administrator.
