About the Assessing Department
The Assessor's office maintains records for each parcel of land in the Township. Information is provided to residents and the business community regarding property description, value and homestead exemption status. The Assessor's office also handles the Township Board of Review in March of each year. The Board of Review hear appeals from property owners who believe their assessment is incorrect. The March Board of Review dates are printed on the Assessment Change Notice that is mailed to each property owner in late February of each year.
March Board of Review Schedule 2012
The 2012 March Board of Review for the Charter Township of Redford will meet at the Redford Township Hall, 15145 Beech Daly in the Board Room for the purpose of reviewing the 2012 Assessment Roll. Appeals will be heard BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. You must call the Assessor's Office at 313-387-2730 to schedule your appeal.
The Board will meet on the dates and times indicated here:
~Wednesday March 7th 3 p.m.-9 p.m.
~Thursday March 8th 9a.m. - 4 p.m.
~Friday March 9th 9a.m. - 4 p.m.
~Monday March 12th 3 p.m.-9 p.m.
~Thursday March 15th 3 p.m.-9 p.m.
~Friday March 16th 9a.m. - 4 p.m.
These meetings of the Board of Review provide an opportunity for a taxpayer to protest the valuation placed on the assessment roll for the year 2012.
Non-resident appeals by mail will be accepted through March 16th, 2012.ATTENTION HARDSHIP APPEALS, please contact the assessor's office for hardship application requirements.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - P.A. 415 of 1994 states that the new owner of a property must file a Property Transfer Affidavit within 45 days of the transfer. If the Property Transfer Affidavit is not timely filed a penalty of $5/day (maximum of $200) applies. Please be advised that Redford Township is now collecting this penalty. This penalty will be assessed on the winter tax bill.
