Animal control is provided to Redford Township residents by Redford Township. We have one part time animal control officer. The officer responds to calls for service involving domestic animals.

Dog Licensing

Dog Licenses are available for one calendar year from June to June. Licenses may be purchased at the Public Service Building, 12200 Beech Daly, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.

You must bring a current rabies vaccination certificate.

If you are a new resident, have adopted a new pet or your puppy was not old enough to be vaccinated in the month of June, we will discount the license fee to $10.00 for your pet.

During the Month of June we also offer a Saturday vaccination program. Please check back closer to June 2012 for details.

Lost & Found

If you have a lost pet and are a Redford Township Resident, you may submit your pets picture and information to the Treasurer's office. Please call the Taylor Animal Shelter before doing this to make sure that your pet is not there. The Shelter number is 734-374-1354. You may call 313-387-2746 to submit your lost pet information by e-mail or drop it off at the Treasurer's office during business hours (Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm)

THIS IS A SERVICE FOR REDFORD RESIDENTS ONLY

Please include the following information:

  • Pet's Name
  • Brief Description (breed, color, age)
  • General Location pet was lost
  • Your contact information (name, daytime phone or e-mail)
  • You may also include a copy of your pet's photo so that we may place it on our website.

Township Ordinances

No person shall own harbor or keep any dog which by loud or frequent barking, yelping or howling shall cause serious annoyance to the residents of the surrounding neighborhood or the persons passing along the streets or highways.

It shall be unlawful for any person within the township to keep, possess or harbor more than three domesticated animals.

No dog shall be suffered to run at large in the township and each dog shall be kept under and within the limits of the owner's premises; provided, however, that if such dog is removed from the owners premises it shall be securely held upon a leash of leather or other durable material of a length not to exceed six feet and in the custody of a responsible person, or the dog shall be securely held in a shipping receptacle or in a closed motor vehicle.
