	Reclaiming Our Territory
In an unprecedented effort to bridge the gap between city and suburb, through the divinely inspired vision of AME Pastor Diane Chappelle, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, Livonia Mayor Jack Engebretson, Redford Township Supervisor R. Miles Handy, II, and Dearborn Mayor Jack O'Reilly united to cross religious denominations, political parties, and racial division to restore regional reconciliation and unity. On July 23, 2007, on 12th Street in Detroit, these community leaders took part in a remembrance of the 1967 Detroit riots during "Reclaiming Our Territory," a memorial to the victims of the 1967 riots. Township Supervisor R. Miles Handy, II, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, Livonia Mayor Jack Engebretson, Dearborn Mayor Jack O'Reilly, and Wayne County Commissioner Phil Cavanagh are featured in the attached photographs.

Redford American Legion Post 302 announces that Anthony “Tony” Datillo has been selected for its first Veterans Community Service Award program for the year 2005. This program recognizes an honorably discharged military veteran that has excelled by serving the community in their volunteer efforts. Read the Press Release and Proclamation
PRESS RELEASE - New fulltime building inspector added to Redford Township Team. As part of our Pride program, we have hired a fulltime building inspector. Michael Williams. Michael is a longtime Redford resident, born and raised in the township. Michael attended Our Lady of Loretto schools, Salesian High School in Detroit, and attended college at Northern Michigan University. He still belongs to Our Lady of Loretto Parish in Redford Township. When asked what he considers his goal for the township, Michael responded, “I’d like to help make Redford Township the number one township in the country by dealing with the residents as their servant to keep the community viable and active.”
Press Release: While other municipalities are laying off or have a freeze on hiring police officers, Redford Township has hired four new police officers. “Public safety is of the utmost importance in our community. The safety of our residents comes first,” stated R. Miles Handy II, Redford Township Supervisor. One officer was sworn in on December 9, 2005. The other three were sworn in on Monday, January 2, 2006. Two of the officers sworn in on the 2nd came from the Detroit Police Department, and the other one from the Warren Police Department. Each officer will go through a training period of approximately four months to learn the area and the methods of the Redford Township Police Department. Click here to view pictures from the event.
